Design and Specification
The Sony Xperia C is a mid-range phone aimed at the Dual-SIM market.
Tailored to fit ones budget and still offer bang for buck, this phone is quite the premium device.
Following the Sony Z1’s design down to the fine print, The Xperia C is a unibody phone with a few metallic elements along the sides that make pleasant accents.
Measuring 141.5 x 74.2 x 8.9mm and weighing in at 153g, the phone is reasonably comfortable to handle.
The Sony Xperia C comes with a 5 inch 540 x 960 pixel display, bringing the pixel density to 220 ppi.
Under the hood, The Xperia C is powered by a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 running on a Mediatek MT6589 chipset with 1 GB of RAM and a PowerVR SGX544 GPU.
The phone runs Android OS, v4.2 Jelly Bean.
Camera and Multimedia
The Sony Xperia C sports an 8 megapixel camera that takes pictures at a maximum resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels.
As you’d expect from a Sony Xperia, The Xperia C camera offers all kinds of features, including HDR mode, Sweep panorama face detection, geo-tagging and touch capture.
Scenes and picture effects are available too.
The picture effects setting has a neat feature where it splits the screen into nine segments and show a live preview of each of the nine effects.
There's also the native quick launch mode, which lets you choose how the camera shortcut on the lockscreen responds.
From simply launching the camera in either still or movie mode, to immediately taking a photo/capturing video.
Video is captured in 1080p at 30 fps and lets you take 2 MP pictures while recording.
The Sony Xperia C supports tri-band 2G and dual-band 3G connectivity.
On 3G, You get speeds of 42.2 Mbps of downlink and 11.5 Mbps uplink.
As for local connectivity, you’re covered by Wi-Fi b/g/n with DLNA and Wi-Fi Direct, making it easy to share content from your phone onto a DLNA TV or music player.
You can use the Smart Connect app for DLNA functions.
There's also Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP.
The microUSB port offers USB On-the-go support.
Battery and Storage
The Sony Xperia C comes with a 2390 mAH Li-Ion battery has an endurance rating of 68 hours and also offers talk time of 12 hours and standby time of 605 hours on 3G.
Storage is limited to 4 GB of internal memory and can be further expanded to 32 GB using a micro-SD card.
