Design and Specification
The Galaxy S Duos is Samsung’s Galaxy S3 gone Dual SIM in a smaller and less advanced package.
The device is built out of plastic just like its older sibling but fortunately it doesn't look like a cheap replica – It’s far from it.
In fact, the Galaxy S Duos is more classier with the finish and does well without the high-gloss of the S III.
Needless to say, this mid-range phone has a candy bar form factor with a 4.0-inch 480 x 800 TFT capacitive touch screen.
The phone runs on Android 4.0 Ice-cream Sandwich and is powered by a 1 GHz Cortex-A5 with 768MB of RAM.
The phone is fairly comfortable resting in your hand with dimensions of 121.5 x 63.1 x 10.6 mm and weighs a nifty 118 grams.
The phone features not one, but two SIM card ports for Dual call and Dual standby.
The direct call feature lets you call the contact you are messaging with by just bringing the phone close to your ear.
Camera and Multimedia
The Galaxy S Duos is equipped with a 5 MP camera with auto-focus and LED flash.
The camera comes with a host of features like geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection and image stabilization for high quality pictures of 2592х1944 resolution and 720p video recording at 30fps.
The camera also comes with a Burst Shot feature that lets you capture 20 images at once and the phone then automatically selects the best photo using the Best Shot feature.
The phone also sports a VGA secondary front-facing camera that allows video calling.
The Samsung Galaxy S Duos has almost all of the latest connectivity amongst smartphones of its class range.
It runs on quad band 3G and quad band 2G networks and accesses the internet using EDGE/GPRS and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, DLNA .
The phone can also be used as Wi-Fi hotspot or 3G modem and also has Bluetooth 3.0 and micro-USB v 2.0(MHL) for file transferring and connecting with other devices.
Wi-Fi-direct which lets you transfer documents, images and files between friends comes with the Galaxy S Duos 2 as well.
Battery and Storage
The Galaxy S Duos comes with a standard 1500 mAH Li-Ion battery with an endurance rating of 45 hours and also offers talk time of 8 hours and standby time of 330 hours on 3G.
Storage is limited to 4GB of internal memory which can be further expanded to 32GB using a micro-SD card.
